Brain Fart: AAPL + YHOO

I am at the in-law's place this week supposedly on vacation so not much activity on the day trading side from me :( ... anyways, I was playing around with the wife's sister's iPhone and noticed that the weather gadget is powered by Yahoo ... I am just thinking out loud here, but an AAPL + YHOO merger wouldn't be a bad thing either.

Both companies seem to strive for what's cool, innovative and usable, so from a cultural philosophy standpoint there wouldn't be too much friction internally. The more compelling case for this is that AAPL is moving out of the strictly computer industry and more into the 'digital life services' space and so picking up YHOO or parts of YHOO even might make sense to further that. If there's anything you could take away from iPhone is that it uses 'other peoples' services and not services provided exclusively from AAPL. I know, weak ;P.

Anyhow, I doubt AAPL is going to try to outbid MSFT here, but it might not necessarily be the biggest bid that wins YHOO. Anyhow, this wouldn't be the first Steve Jobs shocked the world. Alright, back to be a good son-in-law ...
